Working Principle of the SVi1000 Positioner
The MASONEILAN valve positioner serves as a primary accessory for control valves. It receives valve stem displacement as the feedback measurement signal and uses the controller output signal as the setpoint signal for comparison. When a deviation exists between the two, it modifies the output signal to the actuator, causing the actuator to move. This establishes a one-to-one correspondence between valve stem displacement and the controller output signal. Thus, the valve positioner forms a feedback control system where valve stem displacement serves as the measured signal and the controller output as the setpoint signal. The manipulated variable of this control system is the positioner's output signal to the actuator.
1. Button Description
Open the locator housing to reveal the locator panel, which features four red buttons.
From top to bottom:
1st red button: Full open/close position calibration button for the positioner;
2nd red button: Travel adjustment button for the positioner (generally unused);
3rd red button: Automatic calibration button for the positioner;
4th red button: Cancel button.
Other buttons and interfaces:
Port 4: 4-20mA input signal interface
Port 6: Ground terminal
Switch 7: Configuration selection switch (selects valve type: air-to-open or air-to-close; choose corresponding number based on cylinder size)
Knob switch 8: Stop adjustment button
2. Commissioning Methods
The SVI1000 Positioner offers the following options:
1. Standard Option
2. HART Mode
3. Fault Hold Mode
4. Field Manual Operation
(1) Set the Configuration Selection Switch:
- 0 corresponds to air-to-open valves
- 8 corresponds to air-to-close valves
- Select the corresponding number based on cylinder size
(2) Press the first button. When the adjacent green LED flashes, release the button within 2-7 seconds (operation will automatically cancel if timeout occurs or insufficient time is available). The positioner will automatically locate the valve's fully open and fully closed positions. Upon completion, all four indicator LEDs will flash sequentially.
(3) Press the third button. When the adjacent green light flashes, release the button within 2-7 seconds (operation will automatically cancel if time is exceeded or insufficient). The positioner will automatically calibrate. Upon completion, the four indicator lights will flash sequentially, indicating successful valve positioner commissioning.
3. How to Adjust When the Valve Does Not Open or Close Fully
Step 1: Press the upper stop button for 2 to 7 seconds until the green LED2 light illuminates, then release the button. The green LED2 light will flash.
Step 2: Rotate the stop adjustment knob 8 to position the valve as desired.
Step 3: Press the upper stop button for over 2 seconds to save the new open or closed position in the device. Press the cancel button; green LED 1 will turn off, and the device will return to normal mode.
