The 520MD is the baby brother in the Logix family. It has the same basic auto-tune and LED display as the bigger ones but costs less. Plants use it on water valves, air dampers, and non-critical loops where they want digital features but can’t justify the full 3800 price. It still beats any pneumatic positioner on stability and air savings.
