The blue DP cell that’s been on every orifice plate run since the 90s
Orifice plates are cheap and simple, and the 3051 differential transmitter is the one that always works with them. It reads the tiny pressure drop across the plate, calculates flow in the DCS, and just sits there for 15–20 years. New ones have better turndown and diagnostics, but the mounting is the same as the old 1151 so you can swap them during turnaround without changing manifolds.
| DP ranges | 0.1 inH2O to 2000 psi |
| Static pressure | up to 6092 psig |
| Turndown | up to 200:1 |
| Accuracy | ±0.04% of span |
Q: Does it replace my old 1151 DP cell?
A: Yes – same 3-valve manifold bolts right up.
Q: Can I use it with remote seals?
A: Yes – capillary systems for hot or dirty fluids.
