Product Overview

The Neles ND7000 is a microcontroller-based intelligent valve controller designed to operate on every control valve actuator and in all industry areas. It is a 4-20mA powered device that continuously compares the input command signal with the actual valve position and adjusts the actuator accordingly. The ND7000 is a smart, reliable and future-proof positioner with lifetime support.

The unit uses contactless valve position measurement, so there are no mechanical wearing parts in the feedback path. It supports both rotary and linear valves, and the same device can be used for single-acting and double-acting actuators. Commissioning is simple with the Local User Interface (LUI) or remote DTM/EDD configuration. A 1-point calibration feature allows installation on valves that are in process without disturbing operation.

The ND7000 is certified SIL 2 by TÜV according to IEC 61508. It features basic device diagnostics including self-diagnostics, deviation trend, counters, and extended off-line tests. Common Problems

• A change in valve position setpoint will not affect actuator position: Check supply pressure (may be too low), spool valve sticking, incorrect configuration parameters, actuator or valve jammed, signal wires incorrectly connected, or calibration not carried out.

• Actuator goes to end position with small input signal change: Tubes between controller and actuator are incorrect. Check parameter settings PFA and ROT.

• Inaccurate positioning: Spool valve dirty, too high actuator load, supply pressure too low, spool or pressure sensors defective, or actuator leakage.

• Overshooting or positioning too slow: Change PERF value, spool valve dirty, supply air tube too small, or supply air filter dirty.
