Product Overview

This integrated valve system brings together the AUMA SA Series multi-turn electric actuator and a gate or globe valve in one factory-assembled package. The actuator and valve are matched and tested as a unit before shipment, cutting installation time on site and removing any risk of component mismatch. The actuator delivers torque from 10 Nm to 32,000 Nm via a 3-phase AC, 1-phase AC, or DC motor. Limit and torque switches provide precise end-position feedback, and a handwheel allows manual operation when power is unavailable.

SA-type actuators for open-close duty are rated Class A and B or short-time duty S2 – 15 min. An optional S2 – 30 min version handles longer running periods. The actuator works with various controls, from basic OPEN-CLOSE units to micro-controlled versions with operating data logging or fieldbus interface. The IP68 enclosure per EN 60529 provides high-quality corrosion protection (KS) and operates within -30°C to +70°C. Output drive types conform to DIN and ISO standards.

Common Problems

• No reaction to operation commands: Confirm the reaction time setting. Check for mechanical blockage or power supply issues.

• Torque fault in OPEN or CLOSE direction: Inspect the valve for obstruction. Verify torque switch settings. Excessive valve friction may also trigger this fault.

• Mechanical position indicator cannot be set: The reduction gearing may not match the actuator's turns/stroke. Replace it with a suitable reduction gearing.

• Actuator runs to end stop although limit switches work properly: Review limit switch settings and end position configuration.

• Motor winding temperature too high: Check whether the actuator sizing matches the application. Confirm the duty cycle is correct.

The AUMA SA Series is a current-generation multi-turn electric actuator platform. The SAR Series is a modulating actuator variant rated for Class C or duty type S4 – 25%. The SAEx Series is available for explosion-proof applications (torque range 10 Nm to 16,000 Nm). The SA-UW Series is designed for continuous underwater use (torque range 10 Nm to 4,000 Nm).
