Product Overview

The AUMA SA Series valve package arrives factory-matched: a multi-turn electric actuator is mounted on a gate or globe valve and tested as one assembly before shipment. This cuts on-site installation time and removes any chance of component mismatch. The actuator produces torque from 10 Nm to 32,000 Nm through a 3-phase AC, 1-phase AC, or DC motor. Limit and torque switches provide precise end-position feedback, while a handwheel permits manual operation when power is not available.

SA-type actuators for open-close duty carry Class A and B ratings or short-time duty S2 – 15 min. An optional S2 – 30 min version handles longer running periods. The actuator can be paired with various controls, from basic OPEN-CLOSE units to micro-controlled versions with operating data logging or fieldbus interface. The IP68 enclosure per EN 60529 provides high-quality corrosion protection (KS) and operates within -30°C to +70°C. Output drive types conform to DIN and ISO standards.

Common Problems

• No reaction to operation commands: Check the reaction time setting first, then look for mechanical blockage or power supply problems.

• Torque fault in OPEN or CLOSE direction: Inspect the valve for obstruction and verify torque switch settings. Excessive valve friction can also cause this fault.

• Mechanical position indicator cannot be set: The reduction gearing may not match the actuator's turns/stroke. Fit a suitable reduction gearing.

• Actuator runs to end stop although limit switches work properly: Review limit switch settings and end position configuration.

• Motor winding temperature too high: Check whether the actuator sizing matches the application. Confirm the duty cycle is correct.
